Transition Christmas to Valentine’s Day

Transition Christmas to Valentine's Day

Christmas decorations are down and packed away. The house looks so stark! Why not decorate for Valentine’s Day? Focus on a couple of target areas and maybe even repurpose some of that Christmas clearance! I also really miss my Christmas gnomes, so this year I am replacing them with Valentine gnomes. They were so easy to make that I might just have gnomes for every holiday!

Transition the focus areas to Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day comes and goes, so don’t get too crazy. I know people who leave up their entire Christmas tree and just change the decorations to hearts! Instead, I just picked a couple of areas that you see every day to add some Valentine’s Day touches to. I focused on the coffee station, the kitchen island tray, the kitchen table centerpiece, and of course the front door.

Just switching out a coffee mug makes a huge difference, but add a couple of inexpensive Knick knacks and you have a Valentine coffee station.

The kitchen Island

I keep the same tray and just change the pieces sitting in it. The flowers are a staple form my kitchen table, just put into a different vase. I always love to have a jar with candy.

The potted greenery was a Christmas clearance item, so with the help of some inexpensive felt hearts, it became a Valentine tree!

The wreath was a Christmas clearance wreath that I altered to become a Valentine’s wreath by simply wrapping it with a heart garland. The big red candle in the lantern also came from the Christmas clearance aisle.

What's still missing? gnomes!

The stores are really sparse with Valentine’s day décor this year so I decided to make my own Valentine’s Day gnomes. With the help of my husband to cut the wood, the rest was really easy! Directions on how to make your own gnomes below:
