Visit a Charlotte holiday pop-up shop
It’s that time of the year again to think about gifts for your friends and family. Finding something special is not always easy, especially for that hard to shop for person. Why not support local vendors and check out a very unique Charlotte holiday pop-up shop? I’m making it my mission to hit as many as possible and give you my review. Check back as I add on to this blog throughout the month.
What is a pop-up shop?
It’s a shop that “pops up” for a limited time to achieve a certain goal. They are becoming more and more popular, challenging the typical brick and mortar store that is locked into a long lease. These shops are set up in an area of high foot traffic and create a sense of urgency for shoppers. Although pop-up shops occur year-round in Charlotte, this blog focuses on holiday themed pop-up shops.
VTGCLT POP
This pop-up shop takes residence inside a brick-and-mortar store space and is open throughout the holiday season. You can only visit on weekends through December 10th and then it will be open daily from 10-7.
It features vintage and handmade products from 90+ vendors both local and regional. It has the feel of a gift store and although is physically smaller than I expected, is jam packed full of a unique variety of products. There is everything from thrift clothing to handmade jewelry. No question you can find something for the hard to buy person.
Located @ 1100 Metropolitan Ave #160
OMB Weihnachtsmarkt
This is the 11th anniversary of Olde Mecklenburg Brewery’s Christmas Market and it’s become quite a popular holiday tradition open only 4 weekends in November and December.
This year I went during daylight hours but after dark is almost more magical with fire pits and lit up tents. The beer garden transforms into a German-inspired Christmas Market featuring 40+ vendors selling gifts and baked goods out of open-air booths.
It’s free to attend and shopping at this very unique pop-up shop while drinking German beer or Gluhwein cannot be beat. Food is also available but be prepared for a wait. This is my 3rd year going and I feel like the variety of vendors change each year.
Located @ 4150 Yancey Road
Light the Knights
This is another great German inspired pop-up shop located in the Knights Baseball stadium, Truist Field. I went last year and wrote this blog:
Camp North End Mistletoe Market
It’s amazing to me how many people who live in Charlotte have never been to Camp North End! It might be one of the best kept secrets. If you have never been, now is the time to check it out while Camp North End hosts the annual Mistletoe Market. I attended last year and plan to go back again! This year’s hours are Saturdays in December 4pm-10pm.
